1. Consultations and Design Process

1.1. Free Consultation: Astrid Dahl offers obligation-free consultations to discuss any jewellery commissions. During this initial consultation, we will work closely with you to understand your preferences, ideas, and requirements for your jewellery project.

1.2. Design Process: Once the design concept is agreed upon, we will begin the design process. This includes selecting gemstones to be used. Once the design has been finalised, an obligation-free quotation will be provided. Please be aware that materials selected will be subject to availability. Quotations are valid for 30 days and may need to be re-quoted if this period lapses or if the chosen materials or gemstones become unavailable. Once you have accepted the quotation the crafting of your custom jewellery will begin.

 

2. Payment Terms

2.1. Deposit: A non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total quoted price is required before work on your jewellery commission commences. This deposit serves to secure your place in our production schedule and covers initial design and material costs.
In some cases, the cost of materials may be far greater than the standard 50% deposit, in these situations, you may be required to pay a higher deposit prior to the commencement of your custom jewellery piece. This will be assessed on a case-by-case basis and discussed with you.

2.2. Balance Payment: The remaining balance is due upon completion of your custom jewellery piece and before delivery or collection. We will inform you when your jewellery is ready, and you will have 30 days to make the final payment. If for any reason you require an extension of time, please contact us as soon as possible.

2.3. Payment Methods: We accept payments via direct bank transfer, PayPal or via the payment portal on this website. Additional fees associated with external payment providers are the responsibility of the customer. Please contact us for details on how to make your payments.

 

3. Confidentiality

3.1. Confidentiality Agreement: Clients are required to keep all intellectual property, design concepts, drawings, and discussions regarding their custom jewellery project private and confidential. Any proprietary or creative concepts shared during consultations are the exclusive property of Astrid Dahl.

3.2. Non-Use for Other Purposes: You are not permitted to use the designs, concepts, or any part of the custom jewellery project for any other purposes without explicit written consent from Astrid Dahl.

 

4. Jewellery and Design Ownership

4.1. Ownership: Once the final payment is made, the client will own the custom jewellery piece, and it will be delivered to the client. However, the original design concepts and work-in-progress documents remain the property of Astrid Dahl. No reproductions of any pieces or the use of any designs are permitted without prior written consent from Astrid Dahl.

 

5. Alterations and Adjustments

5.1. Alterations: Clients can request adjustments to their custom jewellery piece within 30 days after receiving the finished product. Such requests will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and may incur additional charges. If any alterations are required after this period, standard charges apply.

 

6. Warranty and Care

6.1. Warranty: Astrid Dahl provides a 30-day warranty against manufacturing defects from the date of delivery. If any issues arise during this period, please contact us for repairs. Any repairs required after this date will be subject to charges and will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. All care is taken to ensure all pieces are of the highest quality on completion of work.
The loss of, or repairs arising from wear and tear or damage occurring to the jewellery piece for any other reason is not covered by warranty. It is the consumers responsibility to ensure appropriate care is taken and insurance cover is in place to protect the consumer from any costs arising from the occurrence of such events.

6.2. Jewellery Quality and Workmanship: Astrid Dahl strives to provide the highest-quality jewellery; however, jewellery, gemstones, and workmanship are subject to natural variations. Although every piece is carefully inspected on completion of work, we cannot guarantee the absolute absence of imperfections or defects. Customers are encouraged to review and assess the quality of their purchased items upon receipt and contact Astrid Dahl within 30 days for any concerns. Astrid Dahl shall not be held responsible for any defects, imperfections, or issues that may arise after this period or due to wear, misuse, or modifications made to the jewellery.

6.3. Care Instructions: We will provide care instructions for your jewellery commission upon delivery. Proper care is essential to maintain the quality and appearance of your jewellery and is your responsibility. Jewellery care instructions can be found here. 7. Shipping and Delivery

7.1. Shipping: Shipping costs are the responsibility of the client and will be determined based on location, item value and shipping method. 
Local delivery, collection or standard shipping within Australia may be included at no additional charge at the sole discretion of Astrid Dahl and will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. We will do our best to ensure any deadlines are met and will provide an estimated delivery date and any relevant tracking details upon completion of your jewellery commission. Although all care is taken, Astrid Dahl accepts no responsibility for any issues arising from any third-party delivery or courier.
It is recommended that items or components posted or shipped to Astrid Dahl include tracking and insurance cover and is the responsibility of the client.

 

8. Refunds and Cancellations

8.1. Refunds: Due to the custom nature of our jewellery, all deposits and purchases are non-refundable. Refunds will only be issued in accordance with Australian consumer law.

8.2. Cancellations: In the event of a project cancellation, the client may forfeit their deposit and will be responsible for additional costs incurred up to the cancellation date. These costs will be discussed and agreed upon on a case-by-case basis.

 

9. In-House Jewellery Valuations

9.1. Valuation Service: Astrid Dahl provides in-house jewellery valuation services for insurance purposes. Jewellery pieces purchased from Astrid Dahl over the value of $3,000 that do not include client supplied gemstones will include an in-house jewellery valuation for insurance purposes at no additional cost. Clients may request a jewellery appraisal, to determine the current market value of their custom jewellery pieces.
In-house jewellery valuations are the expressed professional opinion of Astrid Dahl. While we strive to provide accurate and reliable valuations, we cannot guarantee the absence of errors or discrepancies. If any mistakes or discrepancies do occur as a result of our valuation, it is imperative that these are brought to the attention of Astrid Dahl so they can be addressed and amended. By using an in-house valuation, you agree not to hold Astrid Dahl liable for any such errors or discrepancies.

9.2. Client Responsibility: It is the responsibility of the client to request and arrange for a jewellery valuation, if needed for insurance coverage. This service is available upon the client's request and may involve additional fees.

9.3. Valuation Report: Upon completion, Astrid Dahl will provide the client with a detailed valuation report, which includes relevant information such as item description, quality assessments, and the appraised value of the jewellery piece. These valuations are the expressed professional opinion of Astrid Dahl.

9.4. Use for Insurance: The valuation report is intended for insurance purposes only and can be submitted to the client's insurance provider to determine appropriate coverage for the custom jewellery piece.

9.5. Fees: Additional fees may apply for the valuation service, and these fees will be communicated to the client before the service is performed.

 

10. External Jewellery Valuations

10.1. Alternative Valuation Option: In addition to our in-house jewellery valuation service, clients have the option to obtain an external jewellery valuation from a certified and reputable independent jewellery valuer of their choice at an additional cost.

10.2. Acceptance of External Valuations: Astrid Dahl accepts external jewellery valuations for insurance purposes, provided that the valuation report is current and issued by a qualified and certified jewellery valuer registered with the National Council of Jewellery Valuers in Australia.

10.3. Valuation Report Submission: Clients are responsible for providing Astrid Dahl with a copy of the external valuation report for their records. This report will be accepted as a basis for determining insurance coverage for the custom jewellery piece.

10.4. Maintaining the Valuation: Clients are encouraged to keep the jewellery valuation report updated to reflect the current market value of their custom jewellery piece.

10.5. Costs and Liability: All costs and liabilities associated with obtaining an external valuation are the responsibility of the client, Astrid Dahl shall not be held liable for any discrepancies or issues arising from the external valuation.

By choosing to obtain an external jewellery valuation, clients acknowledge and agree to the terms and responsibilities outlined in this clause.

 

11. Use of Clients' Jewellery, Metals, or Gemstones

11.1. Client Supplied Materials: In cases where clients provide their own jewellery, metals, or gemstones to be incorporated into custom jewellery projects, Astrid Dahl will take reasonable care and precautions during the design and crafting process. 

11.2. Client Responsibility: Clients acknowledge that they are solely responsible for the condition and authenticity of any materials supplied. Astrid Dahl shall not be held liable for any issues that may arise from the use of these client-supplied materials, including but not limited to:

a. Any damage to or loss of client-supplied materials during the design or crafting process.
b. Discrepancies in the quality, authenticity, or value of client-supplied gemstones or metals.
c. Any disputes or issues that may arise regarding the client's ownership or rights to the materials supplied.

11.3 Submission of External Certificates or Valuations: If clients provide external stone certificates or valuations to Astrid Dahl for use in the custom process, it is understood that the purpose of this submission is solely for reference and verification of gemstone specifications and is the responsibility of the client and certificate provider.

11.4. Disclosure and Communication: Clients are encouraged to disclose all relevant information about the client-supplied materials to Astrid Dahl to ensure the best possible outcome for the custom jewellery project.
If laboratory testing, external valuations or stone certificates are required, this will be discussed with the client and will be at the client’s expense unless otherwise agreed.

By providing client-supplied materials, clients acknowledge and agree to the terms and responsibilities outlined in this clause. Astrid Dahl will exercise reasonable care and will inform the client of any concerns with such use, but the ultimate responsibility for the materials rests with the client. 
 

12. Inclusions & Conditions

12.1 Purchase Inclusions: For custom jewellery pieces purchased exceeding $3,000 in value, you will receive as standard: a recycled timber jewellery box, an in-house jewellery valuation of your bespoke piece, and an illustration of your jewellery piece. Please note that any purchases below this value these are not automatically included and may be provided upon request for an additional cost. Please refer to section 10 for valuation terms & conditions.

12.2 Stone Certificates: Where stone certificates are provided with your jewellery purchase, it is explicitly understood that these certificates and associated reports represent the professional assessment and opinion of the respective provider. All responsibility and liability pertaining to the accuracy and integrity of these reports shall solely rest with the company responsible for their issuance.

 

13. Use of Website Content, Branding, and Images

13.1. Consent for Use: Use of any part of Astrid Dahl’s website content (www.astriddahljewellery.com), branding, or images without obtaining prior written consent from Astrid Dahl is strictly prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to, the use of text, images, designs, logos, and any other intellectual property associated with Astrid Dahl.

13.2. Request for Consent: To request consent for the use of our website content, branding, or images, clients must submit a written request to info@astriddahljewellery.com. Astrid Dahl reserves the right to grant or deny such requests at its sole discretion.

13.3. Posting on Social Media: Clients are allowed to post images of their custom jewellery pieces on social media platforms, provided that they credit Astrid Dahl as the source in the image description or accompanying text. Sharing of website links and images on social media is permitted provided Astrid Dahl is attributed as the artist and owner of such images and that no copyright laws are breached. You must not use any images or links or content from www.astriddahljewellery.com in any other way.
Using any content, designs, branding or images from www.astriddahljewellery.com or related social media for profit, commercial purposes or reproducing any designs is strictly prohibited without obtaining prior written consent from Astrid Dahl. Any such, false or misleading use may be subject to legal action.

13.4. Protection of Intellectual Property: Astrid Dahl takes the protection of its intellectual property seriously. Any unauthorised use of website content, branding, or images may result in legal action.

 

14. Protection of Astrid Dahl's Name

14.1. Defamatory Use Prohibited: It is strictly prohibited to use Astrid Dahl's name, either directly or indirectly, in any defamatory, false, or harmful manner. This includes, but is not limited to, making false statements, allegations, or engaging in any activity that may harm the reputation of Astrid Dahl.

14.2. Customer Reviews: We encourage and value your feedback and reviews regarding our services. However, if you encounter any issues or concerns, we kindly request that you reach out to Astrid Dahl directly to address and resolve the matter prior to posting on social media or providing reviews. Your direct communication with us enables us to provide prompt and effective solutions to any problems you may encounter. We greatly appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

14.3. Legal Consequences: Astrid Dahl takes the protection of Astrid Dahl's name seriously. Any unauthorized, defamatory use of Astrid Dahl's name may result in legal action.
